Market hit N5 Trillion Capitalisation


At the end of trading today, the NSE-ASIndex rose by 1.28 percent to close at 21,542.58 and the market capitalization gained N121.85 billion to close at N5.01 trillion. Also, there was an increase in both the volume and value of transactions carried out today, each closing higher at 430.35 million units and N3.09 billion respectively when compared to 393.44 million units and N2.52 billion, which were the respective positions at the close of trade yesterday.

MOST ACTIVE SECTOR

In terms of volume, the Banking subsector was the most active during the day, with 303.56 million units of shares worth N2.23 billion exchanged by investors in 3,093 deals. The high volume of activity in the banking sub-sector was largely driven by activities in the shares of PLATINUM, GUARANTY and FCMB which in total accounted for about 48.84 percent of the sub-sector’s total turnover. Second to the banking sub-sector is the Insurance subsector which recorded a total transaction volume of 43.07 million units in 394 deals worth N36.17 million.
 

The five most active stocks by volume are PLATINUM (64.72m), GUARANTY (49.19m), STARCOMMS (39.18m), FCMB (34.36m) and DIAMONDBNK (29.92m).

 
STOCKS ON NET BID

Five (5) stocks were identified to be on net bid and these are JBERGER, UAC-PROP, IHS, CHAMS and CRUSADER. These are stocks that investors are looking to invest in but the market is unable to meet all their demands at the close of trade. The prices are likely to continue in an upward trend for the time being.
